Why does everyone seem to think that Siberian Huskies are the butch sled dogs?

I have honestly heard a lot of what you are saying. And it is true that if the sled is pulling a heavy load they will put more Mallys (never heard this nickname but its cute). But a lot of the people are just un informed about these breeds. the Alaskan Husky is just an hybrid and not always used in sled pulling.
